you fit it in eventually

everyone assumes and says i’m
probably already writing tons of
poems about these few days in
new orleans, but i haven’t penned
a word until today, weeks afterwards—
i didn’t even jot a note until the return
flight. i let the poems come to me these
days, confront life without literary
mediation, and don’t fret about the
ones that get away.
